I must say that I was not at all impressed with the casting or how poorly the (few) pieces fit together. All rather clumsy and it took a considerable amount of filing and trimming to get it together properly. The .50cal that was provided was a particularly dreadful and misshapen lump and looked NOTHING like what the website would lead you to believe:
Look at that pristine little Ma Duece! Definitely NOT what you get in the package. If I were Battlefront, I believe I'd be quite embarrassed. However, Mrs. History PhD has persevered and, in my opinion, turned out a very superior first effort:
(Please note that sole responsibility for the crap photography must be laid at my doorstep.) She says she still needs more stowage, which I have to buy for her, but overall, she's quite pleased with her end result.
She's now decided that she wants to continue on in 15mm Vietnam.
I should've seen this coming when I set her to painting in 6mm. She also says that 3mm is too small to be worth her time!
In any case, I could already see that she was enjoying herself, so, good husband that I am, I was prepared:
I can tell where this is all going to end:
If my first painting efforts had looked half as good as hers, I'd be ecstatic. In fact, I think I could do slightly better than that M577...after 15 years in the hobby.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that she wants to play CDS. Please make sure you both join the toofatlardies yahoo group. A great bunch of people and Ashley and Carole would be glad of some female reinforcements.
She says for the present, she has zero interest in wargaming. I think she intends me to use them
DeleteVery nice M577 :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Marcin
DeleteNice painting, cannot argue with the other statements... I have the impression that they got the ma deuce from their plastic M113 for the website pictures... sadly no one do only M2 in 15mm.... but if you get some allied PSC tanks you often end with spares. I could have sent some of mine but postage across the pond would be a killer...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the thought anyway, Arrigo. Much appreciated.
Deleteoh well... next month I am in UK if I have some spares I can mail from there, Royal Mail is more reasonable than Italian Post...
DeleteBless you. Hope you get to run up to Scotland. I love it up there
DeleteProbably I will just stay in London writing and working in my college library, if I am lucky maybe I can go to Bovy or Duxford...
ReplyDeleteHave a good trip!
DeleteExcellent painting - and for me very well timed. I have an M577 on my desk to paint.
ReplyDelete(Not the FoW one, an old RMM 1:100 so it will need some love).
Tim
I look forward to seeing the end result
